The name of the new earring design is official.  I have worked these up in different beads and I have to say that the Swarovski Crystals and Pearls are the most suited for the design. ﻿An unplanned snapshot of the tabby boys, Diego (left) and Charley. They were using my legs as a warmer while I surfed through my email on my iPad.  Charley is a lightweight at 8 lbs, but Diego is just a little over 14 lbs.  In October he began gulping down his food and then looking for more. The Vet said his natural instincts were kicking in to fatten up for warmth and that he did!

Keeping it simple with pins these last few weeks of the year. This pin is called "Plain Jane" replenishing a similar piece that sold this week.  I chose not to repeat the patina dip.  Instead, I pulled out my dusty tumbler and gave it a palmolive bath with steel shot. Viola! It came out so shiny and sleek looking with all the strength of tumbled metal.  The tumbler and me are an item again. Last evening, I felt a creative vibe so I went back to pin designs. I am starting to crochet a new cowl neck piece for the person that cuts my hair.  When I finish I will select one of the pins created in the past three days to be hers.  I am thinking about the one below if it does not sell by the time I finish the cowl.

Happy Friday.! Putting shawl pins aside for a moment, I wanted to do a shout out on one of my favorite bracelets.  The first version of this bracelet "ended up" to be a size 8-1/2.  The emphasis on "ended up" is because I miscalculated how many of these beads to use with this ornate clasp.  After a few months of no bites, I pulled it apart last week right down to a pile of beads. Less than a week in the shop and I am saying goodbye to this pretty pin I secretly called "Little Boy Blue".  I had to stop putting my fun names in the title field on Etsy because of the search function, but I still label them on my price sheet.

One out the door, but I have two replacements. This is "Vicki", short for "Victorian". I think the theme with the pearls is fitting for the name.

Yarn projects become my focus for a few months. I taught myself to knit when I was 10. I was cleaning out the magazine holder of unwanted reading material. I came across the cruiseline brochure books we receive at least 6 times a year. These brochures are printed on a quality glossy paper and are full of beautiful pictures from all over the world. What to do with these was easy since I like to play with paper.  I also did something good for the environment!

It's taken me a while to post these earrings,but they are just in time for fall wardrobe planning.  Click the links to follow them to my Etsy shop.  These two join the first pair called Zebra stripes. Other than the galvanized silver pair just getting finished, I think I am done with this pattern for now. If I can get it together soon I will put together the tutorial.

I have been thinking about working up a cuff for quite some time so I let my imagination follow the needle and thread.  I wanted a foundation that I could weave in bling so I created this bracelet with a simple right angle weave using #8 and #11. I placed the #8 beads  so that they created the columns between the crystals. These Diamond Medallion Earrings were an unplanned design idea. I usually sketch my ideas on paper, but for some reason I tried arranging the beads like a puzzle on the bead mat.  Not sure if I just got lucky or I stumbled onto another method of designing a pattern.
Once I had the pattern down I made a few adjustments. At last, the cute pendant frames I created from Marcie's tutorial over at La Bella Joya . The black and garnet is for a co-worker that follows a band. The word cherry is the second word of their name. Their big, so I will not mention it here to avoid the search traffic.

Meet Darius. I found this particular model in searches, but I was always met with "discontinued".  I was thrilled to find it available at an Etsy shop called fareynicethings. This shop has various displays and crafting supplies.  Shipping was prompt and the product was exactly what I expected for quality. A few weeks back I was playing with hollow woven beads.  I made this bead and then tossed it aside.  It caught my attention today, so I paired it with this plain chain that I own.  It looks great with a tee-shirt. Simple and colorful.

In an effort to find low key activities while I heal I have been cleaning out my photoshop archives. I made this vintage inspired pendant about 18 months ago. Just seeing it again reminded me of how much I like wire wrap designing.  Have you ever created a design you felt insecure about being a good sale item? A stunning blue color I picked up this past week. I certainly do not need any more beads, but this color lured me into a purchase. It might be spring fever setting since it was 60's here this week.

I have been working with the size 15/0 seed beads so much lately that when I picked up the 11/0 they seemed gigantic in size.

This 16M bead is the prototype for the bead tutorial made with size 15/0 seed beads. I estimate that it takes about 375 beads to create this one. I basically did this one free style thinking I was not going to nail the pattern on the first try. I was done with this tutorial a few days ago. I began to stall on the listing because I worried that the color beads I used for the step by step instructions blended with the background. In between not being focused last week I did pull a rabbit out of my hat by writing down the instructions for my 12M beaded bead made with size 15/0 seed beads. It was only 32 degrees in the morning rising to high 40's mid-day. I am still experimenting with the copper until I feel comfortable that I can measure, bend and keep the waste to a minimum. I love the color combo and the simple design, but I am now motivated to keep pushing forward. A fibula has been on my creative bucket list since 2007 when I began making jewelry. A fibula is perfect for the beaded bead. I chose a 20 gauge copper wire for my first attempt. It is very sturdy and certainly fine for silk or knits. Even though I favor silver, a copper pin is just as appealing to the eye.  You can bet that silver will be next!

I have inched a little closer to the design idea I was contemplating when I created the Olive Swings. I am pleased with these earrings, but I still have a nagging desire to achieve perfection. I think these need to be more of a hoop shape.  Perhaps, I need to turn the loops the opposite direction and tighten up the circle.  We'll try this one more time in the coming week.

You know how much I love creating earrings. Well, I have been trying to come with a new mailing design that makes my buyers feel special when they receive their earrings. Today, I finalized a design that I think works really well for earrings.  



It resembles a heart and only requires two small glue spots. The ribbon holds the design together quite nicely. I was really excited that I had finally arrived at a final design using almost all of my goodie bag when it happened.
